The FFAR 1 is a fast-firing fully auto assault rifle in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The weapon has modest damage with a disappointing mag size at 25.

Because of this disappointing trait we highly recommend using any perk or attachment that negates this. We will get into that below.

This guide goes through the FFAR-1’s weapons stats, best attachments, and gunsmith setups. We also provide the best class setups to use based on the weapons review.

Weapon background

The FFAR originally appeared in Call of Duty Black Ops 3. However, this is a rename of the FAMAS from previous titles.

Stats

  • Damage: 27
  • Rate of Fire: 909 RPM
  • Recoil: Low

FFAR 1 Cold War Best Attachments

The best attachments for the FFAR 1 are the:

  • Microflex LED
  • 34 Round Mags/ Speed Mag variant
  • Foregrip
  • Speed Tape

The 34 Round Mags negate the 25 round magazine capacity. This is the worst part of the gun. The Foregrip provides you with more control of the weapon’s recoil.

Finally, the Speed Tape gives you back some of the lost speed from other attachments that may slow down the weapons handling.

Best Class Setups

Below are the top three class setups to run with the FFAR or FAMAS in Cold War.

Class 1 – Early Rounds

The first class is the Early Rounds class. This is for those that only start with the weapon and want to get the feel of it while maximizing the weapon’s potential. Attach the following onto the FFAR:

Gunsmith:

  • Microflex LED
  • 21.2” Ranger Barrel
  • Foregrip
  • 34 Round Mags
  • Speed Tape

Class Setup

The rest of this FFAR class setup is great for the early days of the weapons unlocking grind. However, it’s also a great all-around class that works great in most game modes.

  • Secondary: Diamatti
  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket
  • Perk 2: Scavenger
  • Perk 3: Ghost
  • Lethal: C4
  • Tactical: Stun Grenades
  • Field Upgrade: Proximity Mine
  • Wildcard: Danger Close

Class 2 – Visiontech Accuracy

The Visiontech class setup got its name from the 2x scope used on the FFAR. We didn’t want to use it but we tried it out and it’s very satisfying. It makes the weapon seem like a laser for some reason.

Gunsmith:

  • Visiontech 2x
  • 21.2” Ranger
  • Patrol Grip
  • 34 Round Speed Mag
  • Airborne Elastic Wrap

Class Setup

The rest of this FFAR class works really well for staying loaded with ammo and keeping stealthy. Scavenger is a really important perk to use with the FFAR because of the lowered ammo and mag capacity.

  • Secondary: Magnum
  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket
  • Perk 2: Scavenger
  • Perk 3: Ghost
  • Lethal: Frag
  • Tactical: Stun Grenade
  • Field Upgrade: Field Mic
  • Wildcard: Danger Close

Class 3 – Thermal Noob

Okay, this class is a bit cringe but it works… try it out when you have the Thermal Optic unlocked. The Thermal Optic in this game looks so strange and quirky. At least the AN/PVS-4 variant. We think its the blue light.

Gunsmith:

  • AN/PVS-4 Thermal
  • Agency Suppressor
  • 19.5” Task Force
  • SFOD Speedgrip
  • 34 Round Speed Mag

Class Setup

The rest of the class setup is built for staying stealthy and close-range combat. This is why we use the Gallo SA12 as secondary. It’s a beast in close range. You’ll need it because the Thermal Scope is difficult to use in close range.

  • Secondary: Gallo SA12
  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket, Tac Mask
  • Perk 2: Scavenger, Tracker
  • Perk 3: Ghost, Ninja
  • Lethal: C4
  • Tactical: Stimshot
  • Field Upgrade: Field Mic
  • Wildcard: Perk Greed
