Vehicle In Game Background
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is a brand-new model manufactured in August 2021. It made its debut in Need for Speed Unbound but it’s certainly not the first Lambo in the series.
History of the Countach
The Lambo Countach in NFS Unbound is the brand-new 2021 model. However, it was named after the original Countach from the 70s, so we did some background research on it.
The Lamborghini Countach is a mid-engined supercar that has become an icon of the exotic car market. Produced by the Italian automaker Lamborghini between 1974 and 1990, the Countach quickly became a symbol of wealth and status, appearing in films such as The Cannonball Run and more.
The design of the Countach was first shown at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show in prototype form, designed by Marcello Gandini of Bertone. The production version initially featured scissor doors, although they were eventually supplanted by conventional doors as production continued.
The engine was a V12 placed centrally behind the driver, with power output ranging from 375–455 PS depending on the model.
In addition to its sleek design and powerful engine, it also featured advanced suspension technologies for its time, including adjustable ride height and an electronically controlled damping system.
The first version released was simply called “Lamborghini Countach LP400” with an aluminum 4 liter engine producing 375PS. This model was produced until 1978 where it was replaced by the “Lamborghini Countach LP400S” using an updated 4 liter V12 engine now producing 405PS.
This version included wider tires for improved handling along with numerous other minor exterior updates such as fog lamps incorporated into the bumper and a revised front spoiler.
In 1985 Lamborghini released the “Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole” which featured a larger 5-liter displacement engine now producing 455PS.
This model also included a redesigned interior layout with improved ergonomics as well as updated exterior styling featuring additional side air intakes along with revised bumpers and tail lights.
It also featured improved braking performance due to more efficient brakes and suspension setup developed in collaboration with Koni shock absorbers. This model remained in production until 1990 when it was replaced by the Diablo.
Throughout its 16 year production run, various special editions were released including “Anniversary” models celebrating 10 years since its launch in 1984 along with limited edition series such as “25th Anniversary” release celebrating 25 years since Lamborghini’s founding in 1989.
Although no longer produced, due to their iconic design and timeless style, many original models remain highly sought-after collector’s items today, making them some of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction.
